AG COAKLEY’S OFFICE ANNOUNCES OPENING OF HOMECORPS OFFICE IN LOWELLSatellite Office Offers Personal Loan Modification Support for Homeowners

LOWELL – Continuing to provide locally-based assistance to communities heavily impacted by the foreclosure crisis, Attorney General Martha Coakley announced today that a new HomeCorps satellite office has opened in Lowell, offering loan modification advocacy for struggling homeowners.

            The new office, located at the John F. Kennedy Civic Center in Lowell, is staffed by a loan modification specialist trained to provide foreclosure prevention and borrower support through AG Coakley’s first-in-the-nation HomeCorps program. The Lowell office is one of four planned satellite offices in Massachusetts with the others located in Brockton, North Adams and on Cape Cod.

            “There are people in Massachusetts facing unnecessary foreclosures, and our HomeCorps initiative is designed to help them directly,” AG Coakley said. “We hope these local offices will provide the individual support homeowners need when going through these difficult times. We especially want to thank the City of Lowell for its generous assistance and providing an outstanding space for this HomeCorps office. ”

“The City is extremely pleased to be able to offer free space to house the HomeCorps program in Lowell,” Lowell City Manager Bernard Lynch said. “This initiative will be a valuable resource for residents of Lowell and the surrounding towns to help them resolve legal issues related to foreclosure activity.”

 “Attorney General Coakley’s HomeCorps program and the addition of a satellite office in Lowell will be a vital tool for homeowners who find themselves involved in the foreclosure process,” State Representative Thomas Golden (D-Lowell) said. “Going through any stage of home foreclosure can be a difficult and trying time, but with the knowledgeable staff of attorneys and loan modification specialists funded by the HomeCorps program ready to assist and represent homeowners, greater Lowell residents can be more at ease.”

Borrowers looking to receive foreclosure prevention advocacy at the office will be assisted in navigating the necessary paperwork and provided with information about HomeCorps’ three-part borrower support and referral initiative including loan modification support, direct legal representation, and a recovery network for those who have lost their homes.
