Centralville Pride in Action!
Under
the sponsorship of State Representative Tom Golden, the concert group UP WITH
PEOPLE and a coalition of Centralville Neighborhood Groups joined forces with
the City of Lowell Parks Department and DPW to complete a Beautification Project at the Robinson
School. On August 19-20,
2014, eight areas of the Robinson
School grounds were
targeted for trash, trees and brush removal. Volunteers from Centralville
Neighborhood Action Group, The Friends of McDermott Reservoir, and Friends of
Gage Field participated in the cleaning, clearing, painting and planting. The cement steps were repaired by the DPW and all of the railings and safety
barriers were re-painted by volunteers. The Parks Department cleared all of the
trees and provided all of the equipment used by volunteers. A new garden with
donated native Perennial flowers was created at the bottom of the Bridge Street
walk-way with more plantings placed all along the tree line. The students of
Robinson and McAuliffe
Schools, and Centralville
citizens now have an attractive and safe walk-way leading up to the school from
the Bridge Street Entrance.
